Veteran Services

The Veteran Services program offers Homelessness Prevention & Stabilization Services to Veterans and their families in Texas. These supportive services include outreach, case management, help in obtaining VA benefits, emergency financial assistance for rent & utilities and assistance in obtaining and coordinating other public benefits.

Services are provided to:

  • Very low income Veteran families
  • Veterans facing eviction
  • Veterans currently homeless and scheduled to move into housing within 90 days

Program Services:

  • Case Management
    1. Development of a Housing Stability Plan
    2. Assistance in obtaining VA and other benefits
    3. Referrals to Community Agencies
  • Emergency Financial Assistance
    1. Based on financial need
    2. Referrals for financial counseling and legal assistance

Outcomes:

  • Rapidly re-house or prevent homelessness for over 5,000 Veterans and their families.
  • Enhance independent living skills and/or Income of very low-income Veteran families.

This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families.

This program is supported by a grant from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation. This grant will fund Veteran employment training for the 25 south Texas counties served by the Region I Veteran Services offices.

This program is supported by USAA. The money pledged by USAA assists in reducing Veteran homelessness in San Antonio.
